THE VERDICT
What people think
Open audience polls. A poll measures the readers who chose to answer it — nothing more. Predictions are a different thing and live on their own page, never mixed in here.
How these work
No account needed. One answer per person, enforced by a database constraint rather than the page: signed in, that is your account; signed out, it is a one-way key for this poll only, which cannot be traced to you or linked to your answer in another poll. Results appear after you answer, so a running tally cannot steer the room.
What they are not
Not a survey, not a sample of any population, and never a basis for calling an election. Self-selected answers are not a poll of the public.
No polls yet
Polls are written by the newsroom against a published story. None exist yet.
